Alderney is an island brimming with wildlife and history. 50 kilometres of path and 18 kilometres of coastline packed with many hundreds of species, both on land and sea, are here for you to discover. Our Island is a diverse and special place and we are proud of it.
The Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) was founded to ‘study, help and protect our island’s wildlife’ and all the money raised from you taking a tour goes back into this work.
‘The income from one family of 4 taking a tour could help pay for a bird box, an hour of footpath cutting by our volunteers or even 20minutes of staff support for a school group visiting one of the reserves.’

In addition to our activities the Wildlife Centre in Victoria St. has a wide range of information, children’s displays and products for you to explore. We are working hard to stock local products and sustainable ranges including souvenirs, toys and ethical homeware.
Our guides are island residents and specialists in their field, they are friendly faces with a passion for our island, lacking pretention, and they will work their hardest to make your visit special. In the quieter winter months our staff guides may well combine giving you a tour with aspects of their work. You could find yourself looking for wintering birds with our Avian ecologist or walking the reserves and visiting the grazing herd with our Conservation Officer for example.
Minibus and Taxi Tours
We work closely with a local firm Bill’s Taxis (+44(0)7911730303) which can provide standalone taxi tours or we can use his 5 and 9 seater vehicles to support any of our tours on offer (except E-Bikes). Costs are £15 per person for a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 persons, in addition to our normal tour price. Please do ask if you want us to take a load of your feet!
We reserve the right to make changes to these offers as necessary to remain in compliance with the Guernsey and Alderney Covid-19 guidance and legislation.
It’s your holiday so we can make it your choice, just ask!
Alderney is small and the number of visitors on island, especially in the autumn and winter, may be counted by hand. We schedule our tours weekly so you can see what is available and to help people plan, but we also know you may not be able to fit in with our timetable, so we will commit, wherever possible to fit in with yours. So give us a call and tell us what you want to do and we will do our best to make your Alderney visit wildly special.
